Gravity Force - Explanation

Explanation: Gravity force is a natural force that exists between two objects with mass. The force is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. In mathematical terms, it is given by Newton's law of universal gravitation:

F = G m1 m2 r2

Where:

  • F: Represents the gravitational force between the objects.
  • G: Is the gravitational constant, a specific constant with units.
  • m1 and m2: Represent the masses of the two objects.
  • r: Is the distance between the centers of the two objects.

Role in Celestial Motion: Gravitational force plays a central role in celestial motion, such as Earth's orbit around the Sun, the motion of stars, and galaxies. For example, it is the force that keeps Earth in orbit around the Sun. The interaction between the Sun and Earth's forward motion results in a stable orbit.

Weight: According to gravity, every object with mass has weight. Weight is the force with which an object is attracted toward the center of the Earth due to gravitational force (W=mg). It explains the apparent force we feel as weight on our bodies.

Universal Nature: Gravity is a universal force, meaning it acts on every object.

Numerical Examples of Gravity Force between Earth and the Moon

The mass of Earth is 5.972e24 kg, and the mass of the Moon is 7.342e22 kg.

Additional Example 1: The gravity force at a distance of 1000000 meters from Earth is: 29,264,418,770,319,997,606,559,744.00 Newtons.

Additional Example 2: The gravity force at a distance of 5000000 meters from Earth is: 1,170,576,750,812,799,914,999,808.00 Newtons.
